Relevant work experience and how it relates to Toastmasters and your role as a District Leader:
– I have previously worked in customer service in the field of real estate where I had to patiently deal with clients, answer questions and handle complaints, which means that I have experience in dealing with and handling people, especially in situations of conflict
– I have also worked as a team leader in real estate research where I had to conduct remote and field research and present reports and presentations with findings. This gave me the opportunity to work as a team member and a team leader, distributing tasks and following up on work and then communicating it with management and clients through written and oral format
– I previously worked as a sales team leader (electrical panel boards) following up on sales deals with clients and with a sales team and reporting to upper management on progress and helping with planning and targets for the sales team

What experience do you have in strategic planning?:
I am currently part of the district’s strategic planning committee, representing Egypt and have been for the past 2 years.

What experience do you have in the area of finance?:
I have filled the role of club treasurer for several years and as division director and club growth director, I have had to do some financing for division and district events, as well as budgeting.

What experience do you have in developing procedures?:
I have some experience working in quality assurance where I work on developing and updating management procedures in compliance with the ISO 9001 management system.
I have also been part of D20 code of practice committee in 23-24.

What lessons did you learn from previous leadership positions?:
I learned that it is important to be a model of the behavior you seek from others, that it is important to clearly communicate with others, explain what we are trying to achieve and to give feedback on the outcome. It is also important to reach decisions through consensus after getting input from all parties involved. Another important lesson is to always have deadlines, communicate them to the team and regularly follow up on progress.

Why do you want to serve as a District leader?:
I believe that being a district leader is one of the best ways to help and serve others and to give back what I have learned through my journey in TM and in life. I also believe it is a great opportunity to work with and learn from other great leaders in an effort to make district 20 a great district for all its members.

In your opinion, what are the District mission’s major objectives and how would you work to achieve them?:
I believe that the district needs to increase membership and provide quality meetings, events and training that will enable clubs to maintain added membership. I will do this by providing training to members to improve their skills and their knowledge, so that they can be model leaders that non-members would like to follow and imitate. This step will lead the way to more commitment, more ideas, more and better events and hopefully more members.
