In today’s fast-paced world, possessing deep knowledge in a specific field is undoubtedly valuable. However, the ability to effectively communicate that knowledge to a broader audience is what truly sets a subject matter expert apart. This is where Toastmasters comes into play. Toastmasters has been a game-changer for many professionals, including myself.

When I first joined Toastmasters, I was already well-versed in my field of Information Technology , Artificial Intelligence, Project Management, including but not limited to Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC). However, I quickly realized that having expertise alone wasn’t enough. I needed to hone my public speaking skills to effectively share my insights and engage with diverse audiences. Toastmasters provided the perfect platform for this transformation.
Through regular practice, constructive feedback, and a supportive community, I developed the confidence and skills necessary to deliver compelling presentations. The structured Toastmasters program, with its emphasis on both content and delivery, helped me refine my message and connect with my audience on a deeper level.

One of the most significant milestones in my journey was being invited as a keynote speaker at the GCC GRC Day 2024 in Dubai. This prestigious event brought together industry leaders and experts from across the region. It was an incredible honor to represent Bahrain and share my insights on GRC. I firmly believe that my Toastmasters training played a pivotal role in this achievement. The skills I acquired through Toastmasters enabled me to deliver a powerful and engaging keynote address, leaving a lasting impact on the audience.

It was also interesting, post my keynote, how many professionals approached me asking how I was able to deliver such an impactful keynote in GRC. Some already guessed I was a toastmaster and to the rest I was happy to share my toastmasters experience.

By investing time and effort into developing public speaking skills, professionals can unlock new opportunities, expand their influence, and make a meaningful impact in their respective fields. My journey from Bahrain to Dubai as a keynote speaker is a testament to the power of Toastmasters in shaping effective communicators and leaders.
