Relevant work experience and how it relates to Toastmasters and your role as a District Leader:
With 18 years of experience in contracts and project management in the oil sector, I have developed strong leadership and strategic planning skills that are valuable in my role as a Toastmasters District Leader. As Club President and Area Director, I have gained hands-on experience in driving club growth, supporting members, and ensuring success across clubs. My background in managing complex projects enables me to effectively contribute to Toastmasters’ mission of supporting and building new clubs.
What experience do you have in strategic planning?:
I have 18 years of experience in the oil sector specializing in contracts and project management, which has honed my strategic planning and leadership skills. In Toastmasters, I have applied these skills by planning and leading initiatives for my club, Life Principles, and as an Area 20 Director, where I focus on setting clear goals, organizing events, and driving growth across clubs to ensure member success and engagement.
What experience do you have in the area of finance?:
I have extensive experience managing budgets and financial aspects in my career, particularly in contracts and project management. This includes planning, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring resources are allocated efficiently. In Toastmasters, I apply this experience to manage club and area finances, ensuring goals are met within budget.
What experience do you have in developing procedures?:
In my career, I have developed and implemented procedures for contracts and project management to ensure compliance, efficiency, and consistency. This experience has helped me in Toastmasters by creating clear processes for club and area operations, such as planning events, setting goals, and evaluating progress effectively.
What lessons did you learn from previous leadership positions?:
From my previous leadership positions taught me how crucial it is to communicate clearly, work together as a team, and remain flexible in the face of challenges. I learned that having a clear vision and encouraging others to contribute creates a strong sense of unity and drive. Additionally, I realized the significance of listening to others and providing feedback to overcome obstacles and promote progress. These experiences have influenced how I lead, helping me create a supportive, positive environment that encourages growth and collaboration.
Why do you want to serve as a District leader?:
I am eager to serve as a District leader because I believe in the power of helping others unlock their potential and grow. Toastmasters has been a vital part of my own personal and professional development, and I now feel it’s time to give back to the community that has supported me. As a District leader, I would have the opportunity to empower others, foster a culture of learning, and contribute to the continued success of Toastmasters in the region. I’m excited to bring my leadership skills to the role, connect with others, and help drive positive change within the organization.
In your opinion, what are the District mission’s major objectives and how would you work to achieve them?:
In my opinion, the major objectives of District 20’s mission are to build new clubs, support existing ones in achieving excellence, and empower members to develop their communication and leadership skills. To achieve these objectives, I would focus on expanding the network by building new clubs, ensuring that all clubs receive the necessary resources and guidance for ongoing success, and fostering an environment where members are encouraged to take on leadership roles and improve continuously. By promoting collaboration, communication, and a strong support system, I aim to help both clubs and individuals within District 20 reach their full potential.
Additional Information about yourself:
My Toastmasters journey began with a passion for public speaking, leading me to roles such as Area Director and active participation in my club, “Life Principles.” I am committed to continuous growth and aim to serve as a District leader, empowering others to achieve excellence in communication and leadership.
